Peru Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Peru

journey to the sacred valley

Upon arrival in Cusco, our professional guides will welcome you at the airport with a traditional Andean dance performance—a vibrant and cultural introduction to your adventure. After collecting your luggage, you will be introduced to the staff accompanying you during your journey in Cusco.

You will then be transferred to your hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, enjoying a scenic drive through stunning Andean landscapes. En route, you will visit the Sulca Textile Museum, a renowned institution dedicated to preserving the rich textile heritage of the Andes. You’ll learn about traditional weaving techniques, the cultural meanings of patterns and colors, and see an exhibition featuring the four South American camelids, whose fine fibers are key to Andean textile craftsmanship. Later, explore the colorful Pisac Market, where locals have gathered for centuries to trade ceramics, jewelry, and handwoven textiles that reflect ancient traditions. After a long journey and a day of travel and discovery, we will head to our accommodation in the Sacred Valley—a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, designed for rest and rejuvenation.

Day 2:
SACRED VALLEY: Maras & Moras w/ Picnic Lunch

Today we visit the colonial village of Maras, where families still harvest salt from ancient terraced pans using techniques passed down since pre-Columbian times. From there, we explore Moray, an extraordinary Inca site of concentric terraces believed to have served as an agricultural laboratory. In the heart of the Sacred Valley, you’ll enjoy a scenic picnic lunch in the Andes with time for optional meditation and yoga, followed by a traditional Andean ceremony led by a local shaman, including an offering to Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the opportunity for a coca leaf reading for spiritual reflection and guidance. The day concludes with a special welcome dinner at the beloved garden restaurant El Huacatay in Urubamba, featuring fresh local ingredients and creative Novoandina cuisine — a perfect introduction to Peru’s culture, landscape, and spirit.

Day 3: SACRED VALLEY: Machu Picchu

Today’s highlight is the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu. After morning yoga and breakfast, you’ll meet your guide for a private transfer to Ollantaytambo and board the panoramic Vistadome train, whose wide windows immerse you in the dramatic Andean landscape en route to Aguas Calientes. Following lunch at the beloved Indio Feliz restaurant, enjoy a private guided exploration of the Inca citadel — a remarkable 15th-century city of terraces, temples, and stonework set high above a lush cloud forest overlooking the edge of the Amazon basin. In the afternoon you’ll return by train and private transfer to your hotel, ending the day with dinner in Ollantaytambo’s main square at Chuncho Restaurante & Bar, where seasonal, locally sourced ingredients showcase the traditional flavors of the Sacred Valley.

Day 4: Andean Paths & Ancient Villages by horseback

Following yoga and breakfast we will journey on a memorable horseback riding adventure through the Sacred Valley, following quiet trails past traditional farms, open fields, and sweeping views of the Andes for a uniquely immersive connection to the landscape. Later that day we will visit the historic village of Chinchero to explore its archaeological site and ancient Inca terraces before returning to the hotel as the valley glows at sunset. The day includes lunch at a local restaurant and dinner at Native Cocina Peruana in Urubamba, a farm-to-table experience celebrating seasonal ingredients and authentic Andean flavors. Alternative tours can be arranged for guests for whom horseback riding is not appropriate.

Day 5: Adventure, Art & the Ruins of Pisac

After yoga and breakfast we will head out to an exhilarating zipline adventure high above the Sacred Valley, gliding across a series of cables that span dramatic Andean scenery, reached by a scenic hike to the launch point. Guests who prefer a different pace may choose an alternate privately arranged activity such as ATV riding, biking, trekking, or a cultural visit to Ollantaytambo. After lunch at a local restaurant, immerse yourself in Andean artistry during a hands-on Pucará Bull painting workshop with a local artisan near the Pisac ruins, followed by a guided visit to the Pisac archaeological complex with its sweeping terraces and valley views. The evening concludes in Cusco with dinner at LIMO Restaurant overlooking the Plaza de Armas, known for its creative Peruvian cuisine and signature pisco sours.

Day 6: Inca Temples & Colonial Cusco

After breakfast, travel to Cusco for a guided city tour featuring the Cathedral on the Plaza de Armas and the Santo Domingo Temple, a Dominican church built atop the revered Inca sun temple of Koricancha. Continue to the nearby archaeological site of Qenqo, known for its intricately carved rock formations and ceremonial features. Following lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy free time to explore Cusco at your own pace before a late afternoon yoga class and a dinner overlooking the Plaza de Armas at Hanz Restaurant, where creative Peruvian and Andean flavors are served in an elegant setting.

Day 7: Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains & Ausangate Views

After an early morning pickup, depart Cusco for a full-day excursion to the remote Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains, traveling by scenic drive through high desert landscapes, snowcapped peaks, and grazing alpaca herds. A short guided walk leads you to three colorful mineral-streaked mountains, views of majestic Ausangate — Peru’s highest peak — and the unique Stone Forest, with time to pause and take in the sweeping Andean panoramas before enjoying lunch in the mountains. You will return to Cusco in the late afternoon, followed by a restorative yoga session and a special dinner at the hotel, allowing a relaxed and comfortable evening after a rewarding day at altitude.

Day 8: Taste of the Andes

Cooking, Culture & Cuisine

Immerse yourself in an interactive Andean cooking class in the heart of Cusco, where a local chef guides you in preparing iconic Peruvian dishes using native ingredients such as quinoa, ají amarillo, and Andean potatoes. From ceviche and causa limeña to ají de gallina, each recipe offers insight into Peru’s rich culinary heritage, culminating in a shared meal paired with a traditional drink like a pisco sour or herbal muña infusion. After an afternoon at leisure including a guided yoga class, the evening concludes with dinner at MAP Café, an elegant fine-dining experience set within the Pre-Columbian Art Museum, where contemporary techniques and Andean flavors come together in a refined and artful setting.

Day 9 : Llamas, Rituals & Andean Reflections

Start the day with a peaceful morning for meditation in the hotel’s green area, followed by an immersive Andean experience with the Textil Sulca community. This ceremonial walk with llamas and native camelids blends gentle hiking, ancestral rituals, and traditional music, beginning with a welcome ceremony at the Ushnu sacred platform and continuing toward the Temple of the Moon under the guidance of an Andean priest (Paqo). After lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy free time to explore Cusco’s charming streets and markets at your own pace. The day concludes with dinner at Efímero, where contemporary Peruvian cuisine reinterprets traditional Andean ingredients through creative tasting menus, offering a refined, narrative-driven culinary experience that celebrates local flavors, seasonality, and innovation.

Day 10: Homeward Bound

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and enjoy any free time before your flight. Check out and then catch your arranged transfer for final departure with a heartfelt “Tupananchiskama!” Quechua for “until we meet again”!
