Egypt Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Cairo
Upon our arrival at Cairo International Airport, meet our professional tour guides at the airport to be escorted to our hotel. Recoup from a long day’s travel at the Hyatt Centric Cairo West in Giza.
Day 2: Tour to Pyramids, Sakkara & Dahshur/ Train to Luxor
Our private tour guide and driver will pick us up from our hotel in Giza, and escort us to the south to start your day tour visiting the Red Pyramid and Bent Pyramid at Dahshur. Dahshur is a famous royal necropolis in Egypt and is home to many famous Pyramids including the Red and Bent Pyramids of King Snefru. Move on to visit the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the world’s oldest major stone structure. It was built in the 3rd Dynasty (around 2630 BC) for King Djoser. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant before moving on to enjoy an excursion to the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. Continue to visit the Great Sphinx, the head of a pharaoh with a lion’s body, which dates back to the time of Chephren; the tour also includes a visit to the Valley Temple, which belongs to the Pyramids of Chephren. Later you will be transferred to the train station to take the overnight sleeper train to Luxor.
Day 3: Tour to West And East Bank
Our tour guides will pick us up from the Luxor train station to take us to the West Bank where we will visit the Valley of the Kings, the magnificence of the grandeur of architecture that was used for burial. There are many kings buried in this valley. The most known tombs are King Thutmose I, Thutmose III, Tut-Ankh-Amon, King Ramses VI, King Merneptah, and Amenhotep II. Move on to visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which was built by Queen Hatshepsut, daughter of Thutmose I, who ruled Egypt for about 20 years during the 18th Dynasty (approximately 1490-1469 B.C) and was the only pharaonic woman who reigned in ancient Egypt. You will pass by the colossi of Memnon which are remains of the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. Continue driving to the east bank of Luxor to enjoy having your lunch at a local restaurant, before moving to visit Karnak Temples, the greatest example of worship in history, dedicated to the God Amon, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu. End your tour by visiting the Temple Of Luxor, which was built by Amenhotep III in the 18th Dynasty in the New Kingdom and it was completed by Ramses II during the 19th Dynasty. Later you will be driven to the Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa in Luxor for the night.
Day 4: Edfu and Kom Ombo tour. End in Aswan
Start your day early with a sunrise hot air balloon ride over Luxor, offering panoramic views of Luxor’s ancient wonders. You will be transferred to and from the hotel and departure and landing site, with 45 minutes in the air and an experience of a lifetime.
Our guide will pick us up from our hotel in Luxor and transfer you by a private vehicle to Edfu, where we can visit the majestic Temple of Edfu that is dedicated to Horus which is considered by most experts to be the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt. According to Egyptian myths, it was the place where the falcon-headed god, Horus, avenged the murder of his father Osiris by killing Seth. Lunch will be included.
Continue your day tour to Kom Ombo to see the Temple of Kom Ombo standing on higher ground overlooking the Nile. It differs from other temples because of its double entrances; each one is dedicated to a certain God: “Haroeris”, The Egyptian God of Light, with his falcon head and “Sobek”, the ancient Egyptian God of the Nile, with his crocodile head. Also, Kom Ombo’s importance lies in its huge sugar-cane fields as it is originally in an agricultural town, producing mostly irrigated sugarcane and corn. Later you will be driven to the Movenpick in Aswan for the night.
Day 5: Tour Aswan, Philae Temple & Obelisk/ Train to Cairo
Enjoy your Aswan Day Tour! Our guides will pick us up from our hotel in Aswan to enjoy a day tour in the amazing city of Aswan. Start your tour with a visit to the High Dam, an engineering miracle built in 1960 to protect Egypt from annual floods from the Nile. Then proceed to visit the Unfinished Obelisk which shows the techniques used by the ancient Egyptians to cut obelisks. Most probably, this obelisk belongs to Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rulers of the 18th Dynasty and the royal wife of King Thutmose II. This queen was the owner of her Temple on the eastern bank of Luxor. Also, there is an opinion that it belongs to Queen Nefertiti. Move on to visit the majestic Philae Temple which was built in the honor of Goddess Isis the chief deity of the island. Later you will be transferred back to the Aswan train station to transfer by sleeper train to Cairo.
Day 6: Egyptian Museum, Citadel, and old Cairo
Our tour guides will pick us up from the train station for us to go visit one of Egypt’s most interesting museums, the Egyptian Museum, which features artifacts from the Pharaonic period. The museum displays a rare collection of 5000 years of art which is considered the largest and most precious collection of Egyptian art in the world. Over 250,000 overwhelming artifacts are presented, including an exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamen's collection of treasure, gold, and jewelry which was enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before it was discovered in the 1920s when his tomb was excavated. Then proceed to visit Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque inside the Citadel of Salah El-Din, followed by a visit to old Cairo where you can view the Hanging Church in Coptic Cairo and visit the Holy Cave that is located at Abu Sergha Church. We will return back to the Hyatt Centric Cairo West.
Day 7 & Day 8: Camp in the White Sand Desert and Bahariya Oasis Tour
Starting from Cairo drive towards Bahariya oasis (about 4 hours but WELL worth the trip) where we find our Jeeps ready to take us on an adventure in the White Desert National Park! We start by the Black Desert followed by the El Hez Village and end at the cold spring. Next we drive to visit the crystal mountain and we continue driving to the aqapat area. After that we arrive at the old White Desert, then we visit the new White Desert with all the incredible limestone formations. When we finish our visit, we will settle at our camp for dinner while spending the night under the stars! (Note: while we encourage everyone to take this leg of the journey as it is known to be out of this world - there is an option to stay at a hotel - at the guest’s expense - if you do not want to camp/ visit the White Sand Desert).
The next morning, after having breakfast in our camp, we will drive back to Giza and, on the way, we will visit the Oasis of Faiyum and the Black Sand Desert.. Once we get back to the Hyatt Centric Cairo Westin Giza we will relax for the night.
Day 9: DAY TOUR TO ALEXANDRIA
Our guide will pick you up from our hotel in Giza, and then transfer us to enjoy an amazing day trip to Alexandria. First, visit Pompey’s Pillar. It was constructed in honor of the Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Originally from the temple of the Serapis, it was once a magnificent structure rivaling the Soma and the Caesarean. Then we will drive to visit the Catacombs which are the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Alexandria followed by a visit to see the Qaitbay Citadel which was built on the site of the ancient pharaohs (lighthouse) of Alexandria as well as a visit to the famed Bibliotheca Alexandrina. We will return back to the Hyatt Centric Cairo West.
Day 10 : Visit the National Museum of Egyptian civilization
We will be picked up from our hotel to go to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. Located in Old Cairo, the museum showcases 50,000 artifacts and will tell you the story of Egyptian heritage and culture. Later, you will be back at your hotel in Giza. As this will be our last day together, we will enjoy dinner then a sunset in the desert overlooking the pyramids and reflect on the magical experience we had together!

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THIS TRIP:
This is an exciting and jam-packed trip! In order to see as much as possible, we will be moving around the country a lot, sometimes only spending one night in a particular location. Your trip will include private coach buses with AC and a bathroom, overnight sleeper trains, and 1 night camping. There will be a few long stretches of travel on the bus. If you love to travel but are susceptible to motion sickness consider getting a prescription patch for motion sickness.
We are taking a sleeper train from Cairo to Luxor (9 hours) and from Aswan to Luxor (12 hours). Think of it as a red-eye flight with your own private cabin! You will have a small cabin with seating that folds out into a bed (bunk beds for double occupancy, with a ladder to climb to top bunk). There is a window, mirror, and a small sink in your cabin, and there are shared bathrooms in the carriage, similar to shared bathrooms on a plane. Meals will be served directly to your cabin. The accommodations are simple, but you can sleep and relax! There is a lounge car, but note that smoking is permitted there.
When camping in the White Sand Desert, our guides will be there to set up your tents and sleeping accommodations. We will have private mobile bathrooms and handwashing stations. While we encourage everyone to take this leg of the journey as it is known to be out of this world, there is an option to stay at a hotel at the guest’s expense if you do not want to camp/ visit the White Sand Desert. If you are opting out of camping, please let us know ASAP to reserve your room.
Pack light! We are moving around a lot, and space is limited in some of the accommodations (such as the sleeper train).
